With a universe so vast and diverse, we thought it was time to focus on the girls for a change! There are so many talented and powerful female characters in One Piece—we want them all to have their rightful place in our zine. The main motto of this zine is WE SUPPORT GIRLS in all their choices, aims and dreams. Thus, we want to donate all profit to Malala Fund - an organisation that works hard to make education available for every girl on our planet. And what wouldn‘t be more fitting than an entire zine of amazing, strong and inspiring women? So we decided to plan and create a concept for a fan project that treats each character equally. Every character has a double page with information about them and illustrations to show off their accomplishments and their strength. The overall design concept and layout is based on (old-fashioned) record files, including a portrait photo (an illustration), basic canon facts, a fictional story and a full illustration, all created by our amazing contributors.
And so, an encyclopedia-themed zine with 58 characters and 156 pages in full colour had been created.
